Privacy Policy

This policy covers the Roam iOS app and get-roam.app. Plain English on purpose: it says what we collect, why, and what we never do.
What we collect
- Account: when you sign in with Apple or Google we receive your email address and name. That's the whole account.
- Instagram handle and photo: if you choose to link one, we store the handle you type and a copy of that account's public profile photo. This is shown to other users when you publish a plan, ask to join one, or chat — it's how people see who they're agreeing to meet. We never ask for your Instagram password.
- Things you create: plans you publish, guides, join requests, and chat messages are stored so they can be shown to the people they're meant for.
- City-level location: with your permission we read your device location once to work out which city you're in. Only the city is used; precise coordinates are not stored on our servers. You can decline and type a city instead.
- Install source and usage events: we use AppsFlyer to learn which ad or link brought an install, using the device's advertising identifier — only if you allow tracking when iOS asks. If you tap "Ask App Not to Track", we count the install anonymously and nothing is linked to your device.
What we never do
- We never sell your personal information.
- We never post to your Instagram or access anything non-public from it.
- We never show your email, name, or location to other users. Others only ever see what you chose to publish: your first name, Instagram handle and photo, and your public plans.
- We don't run third-party ads in the app.
Who processes data for us
- Supabase — hosts our database and sign-in.
- Anthropic — generates itineraries. It receives only the planning request (city, hours, interests, budget, weather), never your name, email, or identity.
- Google Places — looks up venues, photos and opening hours for plan stops.
- Open-Meteo — provides the weather forecast for a plan's city. No personal data is sent.
- AppsFlyer — install attribution, as described above.
- Apple / Expo — deliver push notifications you've opted into.
Deleting your data
In the app: Profile → Settings → Delete account. This permanently removes your account, profile, published plans, guides, join requests, messages, and blocks — immediately, from our live systems. You can also email us (below) and we'll do it for you.
Your choices
- Location, notifications, and tracking are each separate iOS permissions you can decline or revoke any time in Settings.
- Unlinking your Instagram removes the handle and photo from your public profile.
- Unpublishing a plan removes it from other users' view.
Age
Roam is for people 17 and older. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 17; if we learn we have, we delete it.
Changes
If this policy changes materially we'll update this page and the date above. Continued use after a change means the new version applies.
